Window Directions

I’m terrible with maps, in part because I’m much more used to GPS.  But it’s true, most GPS navigators for cars are rather similar today and it’s about time they started to distinguish themselves.  If maps had attempted that maybe they’d still be popular.

Springteq has introduced the WeGo HUD GPs for your car.  It’s a GPS direction center just like all those GPS attachments that came before, but this time the directions are projected on your windshield.  No more squinting at a baby screen that’s blocking part of your view of the road anyway, now they’re right there in front of oyu.  I think it’s a good design, if it ever makes it to the marketplace.

Caffeine Fix

I don’t drive to school (currently) but I know loads of people who do. I also know loads of people who drive to work. And I know just as many people who need their coffee in the morning.

That’s why there’s the Emerson Auto Mug. It’s just like any other to go mug you’d take to work except it comes with a car power adapter this mug will heat your coffee as you drive, no luke warm espresso at the office anymore. Word is the mug is available at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Power on the Go

It’s all about power these days. Gadgets only have battery life that lasts so long. Everybody wants an on the go option when it comes to charging and here is yet another one.

The iLuv iAD115 is a Micro sized USB Car Adapter. The iLuv plugs right into any average car through the cigarette lighter and you’re suddenly the new owner of a USB charger (just don’t forget the extra USB wires you may need for your gadgets).

Driving Along in an Automobile

Cars today are well equipped. Many come with rearview cameras, other help you parallel park, and even more come with DVD players installed. But lets be honest, cars are not as safe as we’d all like them to be in this day and age.

That’s where the AWS 4000 collision warning system comes in. With a camera that faces the front of your vehicle the warning system will alert you about probable accident situations, your distance from the car in front of you, and can even recognize certain situations where you’ve drifted over road lines.

The AWS is expensive, and requires professional installation. Perhaps a smaller model would be more popular, but how do you price safety?

Car Shopping Help

We just bought a new (used) car for my husband. Our last car lasted about 5 years longer than we thought it would. We had purchased it quickly to get us by after his original car burned up in our driveway days after we moved in to our house (long story). Anyway, it’s been a while since we have been car shopping.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find this site until after we already bought a car, but I’ll be using it next time we go car shopping. TrueCar shows you what people are paying for specific car models in your area.

The site collects and analyzes data from 25% of the car buying market to show you want dealer invoice prices are, sticker prices and what people actually pay. In addition the site tracks car models with greatest price drops and increases.  You can plug in specific features and see what dealer invoice vs. sticker prices are.

All of this information is free and is designed to help you get a fair deal from your auto dealer.

Meter Messaging

There are some text messages you just don’t want to receive.  Those drunk messages from people who never should have gotten your number, those television updates from two years ago when you entered a contest you saw during a commercial.  Well, the French can top all of those.

Now, certain French parking meters, will text you when you’ve over stayed your welcome in any spot.  They’ll let you know how much you owe the attendant who has also been notified by said parking meter and is now on their way to make that fine a very real punishment.  Lets hope there’s a five minute grace period, but when in France, don’t push it.
