Well Dressed

The iPad is almost old news now, even it’s iSkin type cases and holders are old news, but that doesn’t mean that the storage innovation is over.

Mohan Custon Tailors of New York is offering custom suits with built in interior iPad pockets.  That’s right, pockets in your suit jacket the size of an iPad.  The suits look pretty snazzy in the pictures, but I wonder if the iPad protrudes at all or causes a less than classy lump to appear along the otherwise trim frame of the wearer.

Accessorize

The new iphone is expensive enough, the last thing you need is to spend more money on it.  But, if we’re being honest, sometimes you just have to because the last thing you want is to have to pay for repairs.

Well, there’s a new less expensive way to encase your favorite gadget.  You know those rubber bracelets?  Like the Livestrong band sported by Lance Armstrong?  Well, apparently they fit snuggly around the edges of the new iphone and protect it pretty well.  Cool, right?

Dress to Impress

Hand-me-downs are so last decade.  Don’t give up your favorite shirt simply because it doesn’t fit, just recycle it into something you can still use, like a laptop case.

That’s the idea behind Hello Rewind.  Hello Rewind sells personalized laptop cases for $50.  In 13’’ 15’’ and 17’’ models you can send in your old T-shirt and they will send back a personalized case for your computer.  People dress their pets, why not their computers?  Hello Rewind also employs former sex trafficking victims from New York City to teach them business skills and help them on their way to a better life.  Good deed and good product, what’s not to like?

iWater

The most recent ipod nano is especially cool because it comes with a camcorder mode. New cases and additions are looking to utilize that new capability completely.

The Capture case by H2O Audio will let your nano go where very few ipods have safely gone before, underwater. Forget spending hundreds of dollars on other water proof cases for video recording, at $79.99 the possibilities it creates are all but priceless.

Simple Solar

It’s the solar revolution. Forget adapters and plugs are a hassle to carry around and certainly aren’t the most convenient when it comes to leaving your phone to charge only where there’s a plug. That’s what Surge is for.

Surge is the hybrid solar charger and case for the ipod 3G and iphone. The case comes with a solar panel on the back to charge your ipod anywhere there is light. Forget plugs and car cigarette lighters. Keep it simple.

Wallet Space

It’s one thing to buy a gadget it’s another to keep it safe (some of us can’t afford to buy the newest installment every time it’s released). Well, now there’s protection and convenience (this style won’t take up extra pocket space).

The Wallaby Wallet is not only designed as an average leather wallet, but comes with a special pocket for a 4GB ipod nano. Cut outs in the wallet even allow for headphones to connect, and remain accessible, when your ipod is in storage. Convenient.

In-case you want a tripod

So, the new ipod nano comes with a camera, as well as a screen for movies. Well, not there’s just the accessory to help you both watch and shoot your own miniscule masterpieces.

The kickester. The kickester is an ipod case that doubles as a stand for the ipod nano. No more holding the screen up to your face on an plane let it rest on your fold out tray, propped up by the extendable kick stand of sorts on the back of the case. So too does this stand make it stable and easy to film if you choose to. At $14.35 it’s not out of the range of most ipod cases to begin with, but it’s a little bit more useful.

Manual Carrier

Digital cameras are often built for size, pocket size that is, but what about picture quality and add ons? What about photography for photography’s sake? What if you want a picture of a lifetime rather than a picture of a birthday party?

Well, for those still looking to digital to be as good as film there are a plethora of digital options, all with extendable lenses and a less than miniscule weight. In that respect, when a great big digital camera is not quite pocket sized, there’s the spider holster.

The holster attaches to the photographers hip and the camera’s base slides into the stainless steel/ aluminum holster. No more heavy bags (accept for all the accessories) and no more fumbling with neck straps when it’s time to shoot. Slide the camera out from where it sits comfortably near your center of gravity and go. Maybe now lugging larger cameras will become less of a hassle and take over from cell phones and miniatures in popularity.

Deliciously Musical

The new ipod shuffle is small and kind of lacking in Apple’s usual showy design department.  A small silver brick that you could lose just as easily as you can buy one.

While much has been said about the design and the problems related to the ipod shuffle the fact is the bland little baby opens itself up to the design creativity to everyone else outside of the apple network.  Chocoshuffle is just one such bit of designer brilliance.  The ipod case is just as delicious as the name makes it sound.  Basically you can dress your ipod as a lovely little piece of chocolate rather than as a sleek silver glob (this is much more cute).

The Chocoshuffle comes in dark chocolate, white chocolate, and strawberry chocolate.  Just remember, just because this makes the new ipod shuffle a bit more interesting it doesn’t make the thing any less easy to lose.

Rainbow of Opportunity

The greatest deign jump forward in Macintosh history, in my opinion, were the jewel toned iMac originals.  While the Mac has obviously moved onwards and upwards with slimmer stylings, the idea of the personalized color pallet has never quite died.

In that respect Speck Products has recently released a new line of hard plastic casings for the new Macbooks.  The color options have never been as diverse as they are now: Clear, red, green, aqua, purple, pink, and orange (although orange is only for a limited time).  The plastic itself is $50, but Speck cases have always been priced in that area.  The cases are cool, but also protect your computer, which is a definite bonus.

Macs continue to gain popularity, especially on college campuses, it’d be especially nice to be able to pick your own out of any crowd.
