Building a Keyboard

Mac’s are pretty attractive machines.  Their sleek design and white and black color pallet make them both clean and noticeable, but sometimes it’s nice to be a little original.  Sometimes it’s just fun to be able to tell your computer from everyone else’s.

Beyond laptop cases and and case decals now even your keyboard can take on a personalized look.  Etsy now offers keyboard decals in the style of lego bricks.  Your keyboard won’t only be colorful but it will also be usable.  Making this whole personalization even more appealing is the fact it will only set you back $5.

Iphone Bricks

Photoshop, photobooth, iphoto, all present even the most casual of users with the ability to manipulate (and in many cases ruin) their own digital photos. Well, with the iphone there is a new way to manipulate the look of your last portrait and it’s much cooler than old black and white.

The iphone lego app will transform any photo you’ve got into a picture mosaic of lego bricks right on your phone. Like some of the crazy options on Apple’s photobooth application, where you can take pictures with your web cam and then convert them to anything from black and white to comic book pixilation, this isn’t high art but high fun. And where lego is involved why shouldn’t it be?

LEGO Electronics look like fun

LEGO has a new line of electronics based on their iconic line of colorful logos as well as their Bionicle franchise.

Among the high-tech treats are digital cameras, mp3 players and more.

The LEGO brick camera looks like it is built from bricks but it can’t be taken apart (although you could add new ones on top). It’s a full-functioning  3 Megapixel digital camera, featuring a color 1.5” LCD screen, and taking up to 80 images. It also has a built-in flash, fixed focus and digital zoom.

The camera will be available in October 2009 and will retail for around $50.

Building Additions

We all love USB drives, USB cords, USB anything, but most computers don’t come with quite enough USB ports for anyone’s taste.  That’s why the Lego themed USB hub sounds like such an excellent idea.

Lego remains a popular design theme in the world of gadgetry (whether or not the devices are actually branded by Lego).  This USB hub would look no less attractive than any of the other brick related gadgets on the market today.  It doesn’t appear to be available in America just yet, but I’m sure it’s on its way.  It’s popularity and necessity just doesn’t com into question, who doesn’t love Legos?

Play Music

Lego has really hit the ground running with it’s digitized products recently.  From mini speakers to cell phones the brick look just never gets old.

Now there are two new brick modeled gadgets on the market.  The lego MP3 player and the lego boombox.  With 2 GB storage and color display the MP3 players are pretty cute (especially with a $39.99 price tag).  They look just like you could have put them together all by yourself.

The boombox on the other hand isn’t quite as builder friendly, as it’s designed to look like a singular brick in and of itself (though a rather large one).  It plays both the radio and CD’s and has a digital clock.  Priced at $39.99 as well the only decision you’ll have to make is whether you need your music to travel with you or not.

Cell Phone Building Blocks

I love my cell phone, I need it, but (despite the necessity I feel in my own life towards owning one) I don’t feel like little kids ever need them.  Seriously, ask the teacher if you need to call home, ask a friends mom, learn social skills, there’s no need for texting before you hit middle school.

Well, doesn’t matter what i think, Alcatel and Lego have teamed up to do just that, get kiddies connected.  A lego styled cell phone makes perfect sense when you market it towards kids, but I don’t know that it’s necessary.  I know quite a few adults who’d love to get their hands on a lego cell, but we’ll see what happens.  The phone is slated for a summer release.

I don’t know who will end up with the phone actually in their pocket, but I can only hope it’s a bunch of us immature college kids and not second graders.

Building a Picture

Lego has partenered with Digital Blue to bring the world a new line of tech gadgets, all adorned with the lego touch.  That’s right, MP3 players, walkie talkies, and cameras all built from lego bricks.

The gadgets supposedly come out this summer and are aimed at kids, but that doesn’t mean kids are gonna be the only ones buyin.  Legos are always awesome.

Unfortunately these newest gadgets are just that, gadgets.  Despite the sweetness of the design you can’t redesign anything yourself.  The bricks don’t come apart, they just stick together forever and look cool.
