Pinx! to track prices for online gifts

Christmas is coming, and I have started my kids’ wish lists over at Kaboodle.

This year I am taking it one step further with registering the prices for items I want with PricePinx!, an online price-watching service.

It’s free, and they do all the time-consuming work. No need to keep checking multiple web sites daily to see if prices have dropped. Just Pinx! them and then you get an email when the price drops or when it reaches a pre-determined price.

You just have to sign-up for a free account and then add the Pinx! tool to your bookmarks. When you find an item you want to watch, simply highlight the item’s price from the product description page and then click the Pinx bookmark. The site will track your item and send you email updates with price notifications.

A penny saved is a penny earned. Let PricePinx! help you save them!

Car Shopping Help

We just bought a new (used) car for my husband. Our last car lasted about 5 years longer than we thought it would. We had purchased it quickly to get us by after his original car burned up in our driveway days after we moved in to our house (long story). Anyway, it’s been a while since we have been car shopping.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find this site until after we already bought a car, but I’ll be using it next time we go car shopping. TrueCar shows you what people are paying for specific car models in your area.

The site collects and analyzes data from 25% of the car buying market to show you want dealer invoice prices are, sticker prices and what people actually pay. In addition the site tracks car models with greatest price drops and increases.  You can plug in specific features and see what dealer invoice vs. sticker prices are.

All of this information is free and is designed to help you get a fair deal from your auto dealer.

Green Your Printing for St. Pat’s

GreenPrint

GreenPrint is a software that analyzes what you print and helps you save money and paper by not printing pages with “junk” like a last page with just a URL, legal-ese or banner ads.

It will also track how many pages you have saved and what that means in money. The program also includes a PDF writer so you save documents rather than print them.

They have home and business versions. The basic World edition is FREE for PC and just $29 for MAC. The Home Premium version is faster, has an ad free preview and includes product upgrades and support.  The business Enterprise version can run on multiple computers and track paper savings across a network as well as other features.

According to Green Print:

“If all US households with a computer used GreenPrint over $6 billion would be saved a year.

If all new computers used GreenPrint greenhouse gas emissions would be reduced by over 117 million tons. That’s the equivalent of removing 23 million cars from the road for an entire year.

If all new computers sold in 2006 used green print over 36 million trees would be saved every year.”

A Fresh Start

I love this time of year. Starting over with new calendars, new budgets, new resolutions.

In the past I have tried to track my finances with Quicken or Microsoft Money, but this year I learned all about the world of Wesabe, Mint and other online options for making sense of my money.

With the financial world quaking all around, it is more important than ever to get smart about your money and at least have some sense of where it is going. Now is the perfect time to sign up for a service (most are free) and start tracking your expenses.  How much is eating out costing you? What are you paying for groceries every month? Who knows, you may find you are paying more for your phone or cable service than you thought. Don’t forget you can shop around at Digital Landing for the best deals on digital service in your area.

Good luck :)

Cozi adds new features

In September I highlighted Cozi–an online planner for families on the go.  They have recently added a few new features.

With the new year just around the bend, now might be a good time to start using it to keep everyone’s schedules in sync and more.
