You’re So Genesis

Nintendo and Sony have cornered the handheld gaming market for some time, Sega has decided to gasp for its share of the pie.

The Retro Gen is a handheld console that plays old Sega Genesis cartridges. Even those who have not saved up their genesis cartridges can still enjoy the console with 20 pre-loaded games and the possibility of future downloads.

The success of Innex’s Retro Gen is up in the air, just as most other handheld consoles have failed to make a dent in the market. Yet, at a price of $59 the Retro Gen will be the cheapest console on the market when it is released. So it’s definitely got that going for it.

Fun for the Fourth

It’s been raining everyday at my house for about the past week, which makes me very wary of the picnics and such planned for tomorrow’s Fourth of July celebration.  Tech to the rescue again it seems (for next year anyway).

Sega, beginning in the month of August, will release Uchiage Hanabi in Japan.  It’s a projector that puts on a fireworks show in your home on any wall or ceiling.  It comes with sound effects and programmed shows, but also with the option to design your own fireworks and make your own show.  It may start out in Japan, but we love our fireworks here in the US of A and tomorrow will showcase that.  I don’t doubt that projected fireworks will eventually reach our soil, and I don’t doubt that real fireworks, rain or shine, will be seen tomorrow night.

A New Way To Resolution

It’s almost 2009 and that means it’s new year’s resolutions time.  Every year lots of people swear they’ll exercise more, at least now we have new tools to achieve that. (Even is you’re afraid of the video games and against “fake” exercise whether or not it works).  That no longer means technology can’t help you.

Sega (yes it is a toy company) will soon be sending help for those less motivated outdoors types.  The FiTrainer is a set of headphones with a built in motivational speaker (that’s the idea anyway).  It comes with three exercise modes and looks exactly like a pair of headphones.  The best part is that, at the very least, you won’t look like more of an idiot speed walking down the street.
